I inhaled this book! Alina and Mal are orphans who grew up together through the patronage of a local Duke. They are separated when it's discovered that Alina holds the power to heal her country of the gruesome Unsea, a barren stretch of land cloaked in darkness and crawling with the murderous Volcra, winged blind creatures that feast on human flesh. She is taken in by the mysterious (and, let's be honest, sexy) Darkling, leader of the Grisha (wizards) who helps her recognize her power but to what end?

A sweet, magical book that was a bit too twee for my own personal taste. Although I really loved Aunt Cleo!

Fast paced and compelling, I flew right through this!

If this ever becomes a series or movie they better get Jensen Ackles for Captain Thorne.
