I think this is a really important story. Its a really interesting look at gender fluidity. I really wanted to like it, but struggled with how it's written. I made it about halfway before I gave up and skipped to the last couple chapters. There's a lot of themes and scenes that remind me of Alanna by Tamora Pierce, and I really wanted this to be an adult version of that. But it just didnt feel like enough content to reasonably fill this many pages and a lot of it was redundant filler.

The story is changed by the person telling it, and I find I like this version of the folktale. Jon Klassen's illustrations, as always, are a delight and add so much to ghe story. I read this to ky daughter agaist her will to which she only complained mildly, so I call that a 5 star read.

I had a hard time making it through this book. The ideas feel half baked and the characters fell flat. The writing isn't great, almost gives first draft energy. Could have been an interesting book if it had been more fleshed out.

The world needs people who help us imagine a better future, and John Green does that here. This book is full of a lot of heartbreaking truths about the world, but Green also provides us with hope that it can get better. Told compassionately and in an easy to digest manner, Green outlines how TB is not just a disease, but a justice issue. It is educational and a call for collective action and care.

I do enjoy a 'humans are baffling in the worst way to aliens' moment. This book is absurd and a decent reading snack.

Reflecting on the failure and successes of government and social movements in the past, Abundance seeks to find a new ideology with which to build the future:

"What we are proposing... Is a new set of questions around which our politics should revolve. What is scarce that should be abundant? What is difficult to build that should be easy? What inventions do we need that we do not yet have?"

It goes over a lot of interesting topics like housing, high speed rail, scientific discovery and immunization, production, etc and how government policies shape them.

"Both abundance and scarcity are stories we tell ourselves. Right now we see an america that is turning towards scarcity. That turn is changing not just our politics, but our national character. We seek a politica of abundance, that delivers real marvels in the real world. We want more homes and energy, more cures, and more construction... Not just more, but more of what matters."

I think it's an honest look at the failures and successes of both parties and a decent start at reimagining the future.

Slices of broken relationships, delicately captured. The ache of missed chances, of drifting apart, of misunderstanding.

This book is a delightful romp through a dinosaur infested planet with sexy aliens and a lion companion! Lemming doesn't take the story too seriously, which I think just adds to the delightful nature of this book. The premise is absurd and I am 100% here for it. It's got plenty of heart and cute moments. 10/10 no notes, would reccomend, and will probably read again.

Stunning and vulnerable. I'm awed by Dani's words. They've left me raw, vulnerable, and deep in thought.
