Queenie Malone's Paradise Hotel

This is set in my hometown. It wasn't written by someone who has been there, or lived there.

It was annoying me, so I'm going to give it away to someone who hasn't been to Brighton. 😂

The Girl in the Tree

Found this a bit of a incoherent mess, I wasn't going back to it and it was lots of run on sentences and half told anecdotes.
I just didn't "get" it.

Grown Ups

Marian Keyes

Honestly found this one completely tedious, I found the characters self centred and not that interesting, the same old tropes in this sort of chick lit, one character with a eating disorder, a character who marries a man quickly and then learns he's not who she thought he was, a woman with a shopping addiction.

Don't get me wrong I'm sure that these are all relevant to someone but I feel women are a bit more than this.

The men arent much better liars or jealous of the woman making more money than them. It just felt tired to me, and not really adding anything to the conversation.

We Have Always Lived in the Castle

I did not enjoy this book, 42% and found it pretty tedious, I'm sure it's good but I just did not care for it.
I think the writing style was partly the problem, but just not for me.

A Vintage Summer

I just didn't gel with this one at all, as my first DNF of the year I'm not particularly sad about it.
I found the plot predictable and just didn't really enjoy the writing there was a lot more telling than there was showing.
The narcissist boyfriend wasn't a great start, and found that plot line to be pretty awful to read.
Her decision to leave London after what was like a 5 minute chat with a stranger was completely unbelievable and I just overall did not want to finish, or care.

I was really bored, 100 pages of nothing and less happening.

The Fran Lebowitz Reader

Just wasn't for me, it's not a book that you "read" more of a coffee table book, I don't really know what I was hoping for, maybe a little bit more of the docuseries on Netflix, as it was it felt dated, like all observational comedy it is of its time, and although moments were funny, realistically I've not picked this back up in 6 months.
