This felt so disjointed - almost like it was the bare bones of a rough draft that hadn’t been fully fleshed out yet. The characters were stiff and unbelievable. There were pacing issues. Weird jumps in time. A tough one to get through for sure.
fast-paced
My second Freida McFadden book!
Overall I did enjoy this one a bit more than The Teacher but it still left me feeling very underwhelmed.
I wasn’t sure who to trust. At all. That’s something McFadden does exceptionally well is make you second guess every single person.
Mostly the writing felt sloppy, rushed, and repetitive. Like most of it could have been copy pasted from any other generic thriller. Because of this I never felt like I just absolutely needed to keep turning pages.
Will I read more McFadden books? Yeah, because they’re already on my shelf. Thankfully they’re super quick to get through. And really they’re not the worst thing I’ve ever read, just also not the best.
