i have a confession… i didn’t love this one 😔 don’t hate me, bookstagram!!! i wanted to love it, i really did! six of crows was SO GOOD and then this one took me mooooonths to get through and i just kept feeling uninterested and kinda bored by it? the last 100 pages i finally got into it, but i just wanted so much more between the pairs/couples, and it felt like the first half was SLOW which threw me off.
ugh. i’m bummed.
read my first of the #12challenge books (recommended by @clarisareads!) and it was so cute! definitely was similar to The Reading List (which i LOVED) and was a precious love letter to all the goodness of libraries with a fun cast of quirky characters.
a quick read, cute, fun, happy ending, hooray!

you all KNOW how much i love Little Women (SO MUCH) so when i saw this remix of the classic, written by a Black author and centering Black characters in the Civil War era, i snatched it up SO FAST. and i was blown away. it’s an incredible retelling of LW, for sure, but even more than that, i learned a looooooot about how Freedmen’s Colonies came to be and dove deeper into just how challenging and complex emancipation was for Black people in this country. once again, my education failed me. 😠
this is truly a brilliant book.

was craving a cutesy read and this DELIVERED. 🥰 (thx @thefoxedbox for sending this last year!!!) it’s like a book version of the Valentine’s Day/New Year’s Eve chick flicks, following a whole cast of characters whose lives intertwine around the wedding industry and it is DELIGHTFUL.
@allthelovelylit told me she had a smile on her face while reading this one and so did i! truly so charming and fun.

this little book came home with me from @theivybookshop on my solo road-trip and i finally read it, and really liked it! brach comes from a Buddhist background (aka different than me! 🙌🏼) and i found so many of her thoughts striking, poignant, and beautiful. the writing style here is so lovely!

so i looooooved The Guest List by Foley (a five star fave!) but reading this one had me feeling like the plots were the same and just the settings were different??? or maybe i forgot the storyline? but the characters annoyed me and nobody was likable and if i’m going to be stuck in a house with a friend group, i at least want to find them interesting… and i didn’t with this one. 🤷🏼♀️
