to me, ali hazelwood’s books have been hit or miss, but this one was a hit! 

as soon as the author’s note was like “this is not a romcom, it’s an erotic romance, and they deal with deep shit” — i was like YES PLZ 

it DELIVERED on the spice and also on the deeper themes and i appreciated both (wow, look at my range!!!). it’s less ~quirky~ and fluffy and more dealing with your past while also having hot hot chemistry with someone who should be off limits because of your work and their work BUT HERE WE ARE. 

FLEW through this dark and tense thriller — i was disgusted and intrigued and heartbroken while reading it so it’s hard to say i recommend it… but wow, it had me HOOKED. if you like stories where girls go missing and men are evil and badass female detectives figure ish OUT like nobody else can, this is the book for you! but woof, it was hard to read at times.
