Another book filled with above-average discussions on stoicism filed with interesting kernels of history and studies on the human psyche. Overall, I really struggled to get past how much of this book gave me the feeling it was written with some white guy privilege blinders on.

I would love to recommend this, but I think I'll need to be selective to whom because it needs additional thought on nuance and intersectionality that last isn't present.

I laughed a good bit, but more than that I felt a lot more than I expected. Everything Sedaris writes about his dad is with such a bittersweet poignancy you can't help but look at your own conflicted emotions around your family of origin.

I suspect bits of this are going to stay with me for a while.

This is one I know I'm gonna sit with and possibly come back to in another six months or a year. An introspective and human exploration of epigenetics and environmental activations of our own experiences through actions of our forebears. The anecdotes she chose to share, while sometimes containing heavy topics never felt inaccessible or too heavy, and all of them had relateable components.

Not necessarily good, but scratches some smutty interests of mine. Will I read the sequels? Probably.

If you're into sexy, well-hung dark fae lords, power dynamics, bonded partnering, possessive alpha shenanigans, way too much cum and probably breeding kinks you'll probably enjoy this book in spite of its flaws.

Ultimately I think this book has a lot of potential in the setting, but it was wasted in setting up this 'romance'. I'm hoping for more... not smut in the next one.
