Solid 6.5/10
First thought upon finishing: "How about them apples?"
Otherwise it was a serviceable mysery/suspense novel with some pacing issues (beginning too slow, ending too fast) and some characteristics of 30-somethings that felt... off. The writing itself is flowing and lovely, but I wanted so much more of the interesting parts, which we the setting itself and the bits of magic therein.
I could only see myself recommending this to a friend if they specifically wanted a gothic setting mystery with ghostings of paganism.
