So. adorable. It gives strong Winnie the Pooh vibes in the very best way. It has a lot more advanced vocabulary than a book at this level would normally have (an asset in my opinion), so Monkey found it difficult to listen to whole chapters at first. He was always able to follow the story though and fell in love with the characters by then end. He's already planning our re-read, and I just bought the sequel.

I loved a lot about this. The audiobook was amazing, and the characters were really well done and interesting. It got a bit slow and repetitive for me in the middle, but the ending was excellent.

What a ride! Can't wait to get my hands on the next one.
Audiobook was excellent.

Slow to start but picks up. Lovely writing.

CWs for extreme war violence and brutality, genocide, rape, torture, drugs and addiction... Sensitive readers be cautious.

Holy wow, what a ride. This book is dark, even more because many of the events in the story are based off of actual events in China's history. It moves at a break-neck speed and is utterly compelling the entire way through. I couldn't put it down.

Okay little mystery but nothing amazing. Most of the characters were annoying AF but that seemed intentional.Too slow in the beginning but I did find the ending to be pretty good.
Audiobook was good quality.
