I’m a big fan of Patricia Highsmith’s stories, so it was super interesting to learn more about her life. Fantastic and dynamic art here.
I really enjoyed reading this and binged through it. I thought the swimming setting was fresh (I swam competitively for years but know nothing about diving) and the characters were unique and engaging too.
Lukas was one of the sexiest love interests I have read, and not just because he is an olympic swimmer. He is thoughtful, attentive, and so incredibly respectful. Scarlet had flaws of course (requirement for a romance MC) but they worked to be important to the plot instead of just being superficial and annoying.
I was a bit underwhelmed by the kink, though. It was barely a toe outside of vanilla, and I think the average mm open door is about the same level. Still, it was all presented respectfully and educates about the power dynamics in a dom/sub couple.

Not a bad premise or writing, tbh. It just felt kinda flavorless to me since I have been reading a lot of fantasy lately and YA fantasy is such a derivative genre.

It's a refreshing change of pace to read short stories that don't sound like they were made for an MFA workshop.
This was pretty interesting and not exactly what I expected. I thought it would be a personal memoir of McLaren's spiritual journey. It is more of an overview of different Christian sects and movements, a very brief historical explanation of why/how they came to exist, and the unique and positive points of view that they bring to Christianity.
For readers looking to learn more about the kind of spirituality that McLaren is pointing towards, check out Falling Upward by Richard Rohr.

I listened to this play as a full cast drama performed by The Bell. Like with A Doll's House, I was impressed by how ahead of his time Ibsen was. But the drama in this one, lawd!
I am so impressed that this was written by a 16 year old. It is really good, I'm surprised I didn't read this in high school.
This was so good!!
Based on the cover and title, I didn't expect so much action and adventure, but it was a rollicking good time. The setting, Romney Marsh, plays such an important role in the story and that felt quite unique for a romance book.
The romance was really cute, too, with light enemies to lovers and class differences. The audiobook narrator did great accents, I think it really enhanced the story :)

So! Good! And a great conclusion to the duology. The romance is great, and I liked that there was a strong plot outside the romance as well. Like, there is enough content in the treasure hunting storyline that the book could be only about that and it would still be a good book. This is definitely an author that I want to read more of.
