"My father was a handyman before me, and his father was a handyman before me, and so on and so on."

And his father? Was a dancer. I pretty much gave this book five stars because This sentence reminded me of Mitzi Bonaducci.

What do I say about this book? I started the series in the fall because everyone always told me I had no childhood if I didn't read this series. So I felt the peer pressure and gave in. And I soon understood why everyone is so enraptured with this series. Snicket's voice is so unique and hilarious. It's perfect for young children, yet completely sarcastic and witty for anyone older who would want to read it. The books were filled with mystery that kept you desperate to read the next one and always left you with unanswered questions. And so does the last book.

When I first reached the end of the End, I was upset. (That and the very last page was torn out of the book. I guess that's what you get for library books) I mean there's so much set up for nothing to be resolved, and only more questions added on at the end. I was frustrated yet... I adored it.

I've been going through reviews on Goodreads and people are torn from hating and loving this book. So many people are frustrated, but others just accept it. Snicket warns us throughout the entire series that we should not read these books, and nothing happy will ever come out of them. The series is titled 'A Series of Unfortunate Events' not 'Everything Wraps Nicely With All the Mysteries Answered and They All Lived Happily Ever After.' Plus Snicket focuses much of the end of The End about how this is never the whole history, and how it is impossible to tell a whole history. It makes sense. I wanted my answers, but did I honestly expect the series to end any other way? No, I didn't.

This book becomes more philosophical than story telling. There are many wonderful, deep moments that are begging to be analyzed and questions wanting to be pondered. However I just read it. I need some time to think over the book. Maybe I'll feel differently when I wake up tomorrow morning.

This book was a nice piece of fluff. Super easy read, engaging, not the greatest writing ever. But I do enjoy the characters and you can't always be reading a super serious book.
