So... first of all I need to give myself a round of applause for managing to finish this story. To put this into perspective: I disliked the first book and DNFed then second one, so the only reason I decided to read this one was because I needed to know the full story of what happened to Lia/Winter.
Even though Lia's character annoyed me most of the time, at least towards the end she decided to grow a teeny tiny backbone and stand up to Adrian a little bit. She still needs a million hours of therapy or better yet admit herself into a phychiatric facility.
Adrian is an abusive asshole who tries to pass his shitty behavior as a man who is possessive and obsessed with his wife. Being possessive doesn't mean he can just go around killing people for looking or talking to his wife. He is a psycho who loves to punish his wife for the smallest, most stupid things just because he gets off on seeing her in pain. He's a sadist!
Lia and Adrian have no business being together, their relationship was so toxic that Lia preferred to jump off a cliff than continue in that marriage. And instead of talking about those issues we just breezed past that like nothing happened, no big deal at all that after that she preferred to dissociate instead of dealing with her shitty life. These two definitely should not be having any more children because they'll most likely end up just as damaged as their parents.
I thought at some point there would be some redeeming moment for them both where I'd think they actually are good couple but NOPE! I have no idea how Lia ended falling in love with Adrian because I couldn't find one good moment where he wasn't getting angry or jealous about something. I think maybe she just has Stockholm syndrome and created an emotional bond with her captor that she confuses as love, who knows? 🤷🏽♀️
