Thank you to NetGalley for a copy in exchange for my honest review.
I think there was a ton of potential for this book to set it's own path and it didn't miss the mark, it just needs to be better understood. In a way. Roth went into this with a surprisingly somewhat accurate retelling that includes sci-fi elements and a slower approach to what her stories usually take. I had the privilege of an audio-book for this one and I think it made it a bit difficult for me to understand.
It was enjoyable but lost me at times and I caught myself rewinding to make sure I could understand it all. So not the author's fault but it definitely made it SOMEWHAT of a chore to get through. I do look forward to reading the actual book soon and seeing how my understanding differs. It was interesting at it's core and I enjoyed the build-up whether it was slow or not.

Thank you to the fantastic author for my arc. I took so much pleasure in reading this one simply because I've been SO excited to see their journey. Now I'm here to say her work has definitely paid off with this one. Considering it's supposed to be even better on its final release. With that said, let's get into it.
We have a Hades/Persephone retelling which has now been done quite a bit. BUT I think this story is a little more original in its beginning and background history. The flow of her story was well-paced for my tastes, The build-up of our main character was enjoyable to witness. I loved finding out more of her backstory as it continued and her development about halfway through was another plus for me. She really helped me connect and feel for the characters throughout and had me toss back paragraphs left and right the moment she threw a lil twist in there because I most definitely did NOT want to put it down then. Now there was one character I wasn't as sold on but just because he wasn't up to my personal standards for some of it. I felt like at certain times he didn't fit right into the book but the ending took care of that for me lol. I'm only sad that now I not only have to wait for a second book but the first hasn't actually even come out yet!! So if she can leave me feeling that way in the end my very minor flaws with it don't matter as much to me.
I think with the final release it'll be fine-tuned and smoothed out for sure. It definitely won't be everyone's cup of tea and that's okay. But for me, I loved it.

I was immediately drawn in by how gorgeously soft and vibrant the illustrations were. It was an amazing read and I completely enjoyed it. Something about it reminded me of things I always wished to read when I was a kid. I'm also very happy that we have a chance to read this in English now and I'm EXCITED to read the others planned once they're out.

My thoughts are a little jumbled on this one I'll be honest. But here's a very spoiler-free review. There are quite a few things I enjoyed about this book and her writing style is absolutely stunning to read. You really do feel everything she's telling you on the pages.
But, the flaws I had are obviously why I gave it 3 stars instead of the 4 I originally thought it would be. I think the tropes and the plotline of this are starting to get overplayed in my books. Now that really depends on what ones you read first. If this is your first book with these in it you'll probably love it! For me, it was a little stagnant. But that's okay because reviews are mainly opinions, not facts. The main character was enjoyable but not someone I necessarily liked and the further and further I was in I felt like I was losing focus throughout. Now the ending was quick and dirty but in a great way so I didn't leave the book feeling like I wasted my time. But I just didn't get the urge to add it to my shelf, ya know? Overall I'm still excited about her success and look forward to other books in the future.
I thank you for your sweet time.

It was informative and well-written! I enjoyed the graphics and super easy beginner interface. You could easily pick up at any point in the book and learn something.
I received a digital copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I thought it was an interesting idea for a graphic novel and I think it maintained my interest throughout. My gripe would be that It felt choppy between chapters and the ending rushed. I think if things had felt smoother while reading it would have gone down a little better for me. I'm still interested to see where it goes and I'd still read any future works. But it definitely left me wanting more and not necessarily in a good way.

I think the dinner and the murder vibe it has absolutely sold me. I felt like I was reading a new rendition of Clue and it completely gave that nail-biter "Who did it?" twist and turn. It doesn't have many reviews yet so I'll wait before giving any spoilers in my review!
