This stunningly written book captured me from the first sentence. Our author has always done a beautiful job of giving us relatable characters and stories that stay in our heads even after we've closed the book. I was definitely honored to receive this e-arc. So our main character Imogen (Obviously, duh) has always been a dedicated ally and friend to all those around her, especially her queer-identifying friends.

Every step of the way she's been there, ready to support them and fight anyone who says otherwise. Her two best friends Gretchen and Lili are polar opposites and she's torn between the two on multiple occasions. Which one needs her support the most? Staying with Lili on campus, she meets Tessa. Mysteriously gorgeous and consumes her mind from the very start. All she can focus on is this girl she meets and the fact she meets her under false pretenses.

Because right now, everyone thinks she's Bi, thanks to Lili's out-of-control lie. Something that should be easy to handle but it starts to stir up emotions in Imogen she's long since buried. She's in a place where everyone is themselves, easily. They aren't worried if they're not queer presenting enough or stuck in their own mind micro-analyzing their every move. They're just - being. Something she so desperately wants.

It was so refreshing to read every thought I have had at least once in my life, even before coming out. Thoughts I even have to this day. It can feel so intimidating and it's hard to be bold and brave when you don't even know how. It does a fantastic job of showing imposter syndrome and how intensely it can affect the lgbtq+ community. Even after you've allowed yourself to be true in your mind, there's always something to prove. Sometimes even to your closest friends and family. This will be a book I recommend for years to come. It finally gave word to feelings so easily forgotten.

I completely enjoyed the wild ride that was this collection! There is something for every person in this GIANT book of mind-bending stories and their gorgeous counterparts. You're taken on a new adventure with every chapter and it sores your imagination to new heights. There's so much detail and world-building that it's absolutely astounding to uncover.

I'll start with the advertising. This was said to be a queer dystopian story and when I tell you I ran to click the request button. I think that's why I'm so disappointed in it being such a minor subplot you can barely call it a plot at all. This definitely gave me Maze Runner or Divergant YA dystopia vibes and that's not a terrible thing by any means but it saying it was Adult kinda blows my mind.

I think there was tons of potential, there were so many points that held my interest but weren't really expanded upon. I'd love to see this fleshed out more or maybe marketed a different way, I'm sure those who love what I'm "eh" on about it would enjoy this book! It was pretty short and the ending left me hoping to read a second book one day!

Every second of reading this intense and enjoyable thriller had me flipping pages as fast as I could. I love the original storyline in this, sometimes thrillers can get a bit repetitive. Not this one, there's so much to unpack but our author does it in gloriously detailed ways.

The characters are easy to root for but at certain points, there are times when you can't really decipher who the bad guys are. It makes the intensity last the entire time you're reading. The descriptions of Montana in a snowstorm were beautiful to read and imagine. It honestly makes you sad that it's standalone!

This is most definitely the start of something great. I honestly can't wait to see where this story is taken and expanded upon. We have a very original idea that holds so much potential, it's enjoyable to see play out. It completely gives off horror-stricken AI and SciFi vibes mixed with the mystery surrounding our main character.

Watching her try to uncover why she was the only survivor of something brutal sucks you in from the start. Not to mention the art for this is impeccable and I would catch myself just staring at it. I can't wait to dive in for more on the next issue!

I've read some of the author's past work and always enjoyed the things he writes. He has a way with words that come across so spectacularly in his writing and every detail he shows. This collection showed his prowess with storytelling in ways like never before.

Every story sucks you in and shows you a horrifically great world he's built for you. You're Not Suppose To Be Here was probably my favorite of them all and it blew me away with how much it made me squirm in my seat. I can't wait to read more by him!

Queer horror is something to fawn over, it doesn't happen very often. Now I wouldn't say this was straight-up horror by any means. It was pretty mild in that department but it still made for fantastic vibes and gave me what I wanted! The multiple POVs were interesting and while it didn't take away from the story for me I don't know if it's something everyone will love about it.

I think the way our author described our story and characters was marvelous and really makes you form a kinship with them. The found family trope is one of my FAVS and I thought this one was really well done. I can't wait to read more and really watch the story flesh out and become something truly great.

The immersive and original world building was absolutely stunning to read and learn. I was entirely drawn in from the start. Our main character Lore is so relatable, which you wouldn’t think at first, due to the trauma and suffering she’s been through and how she still perseveres. The background and history we’re fed absolutely sucks you in for more, every single morsel.

The magic is super unique and interesting to discover, Mortem being in all of us but needing a special something to come out. Our MC being able to draw on more and detect it around her is what leads to our main court politics story line after she’s brutally betrayed to the church.

If you’re looking for creepy gothic catacomb vibes with court politics and intrigue this is most definitely an immediate pick for you! Especially if you’ve got a thing for love triangles because this one will have you pulling at your hair and demanding she listen to you through the pages.

Books like these are what really transport you into a different time and place and life. They completely allow you to be consumed in a story and let it encapture your mind in the absolute best of ways. The vibes of this book are immaculate and should probably be talked about for decades. If you're in love with witty banter, low-key romance, fae, dark academia, savants, and anything close to that this is right up your alley.

A complete classical historical fantasy with such a dark and twisted underbelly, you won't want to put it down. The charming and endearing writing blew me away. This is definitely on my reread list once it's released and I can't wait to own a physical copy.
