I’m honestly sad that I didn’t read this sooner. It’s been on my tbr but I kept putting it off, I’m so sorry that I did. I’m always a fan of historical fantasy so this seemed like a no brainer. My first introduction into this authors writing left me floored in all the best ways. I could picture everything I was reading and felt like I was there with our characters.
The uniqueness of this book was so refreshing and informative, to be honest. If you want something fast paced and full of stunning world building, this is DEFINITELY for you. Giving this a chance you won’t be sorry. It opens up an entire world of characters and their lives. Plus the Japanese folklore evident throughout is so magical to read and experience. It’s quick but mighty.

This was a quick and easy read if you’re looking for something to start you in this genre or even something to help out of a reading slump. It has an interesting premise and you immediately are met with supernatural vibes. I think I expected more than I was given but it still was a refreshing original storyline. All in all I was able to finish it and didn’t think I wasted my time! I’d say give it a read and see if it creeps you out like it did me at certain points.

From the moment I started and ended this held me firmly in it's grasp and DID NOT let me go. We're here again with some of Malerman's prolific and mind-numbing horror. His suspense and mystery give way to fantastic thrillers.
He knows what he's doing and continues to do it well. Each one in this collection has something so intriguing and attention grabbing. Maybe it's the way he writes and his description of even the littlest thing that sell me. But I would most definitely recommend this to anyone who's a fan of the genre. You definitely have to read this one for yourself.

As a younger teen I was absolutely in love with this song and music video that followed. It made me feel all the feelings I didn't fully admit yet and gives you a voice which is something we've all most likely struggled with when it comes to topics like this.
I was super excited to be given a chance to read this book after all these years of listening to it on spotify haha. Now I think this book did what it aimed to do, which was give us a deeper and more evolved background to the two girls Coley and Sonya. It was like you were looking from the sidelines and watching every moment that led up to what happens in the music video.
Which I enjoyed, I've always been heavy on the lore when it comes to things. I'm a bit sad that it didn't give us any perspective on how things go AFTER the events we all know from the video. It was a little rushed on the final moments and It's probably due to us knowing it all but I was hoping for a little more there. All in all It was what I wanted and I'm still SOOOO happy that I was able to read it and experience it.

This was a short but wonderful look into our mc and her life thus far. She's older and divorced which is a fantastic little slice of some representation. I think quite a few reader's will definitely click with her.
She's bisexual and really and honestly has no clue what she's doing. And we get to be there for the ride. It was simple but wonderfully executed, I think it's something I'll love to think about and most definitely recommend.

This one is added to the list of the EASIEST 5 stars I've ever given. You know it's good when you sit 4 chapters in and know you can go ahead and click all the stars in your head. Don't go into this expecting a retelling because it most definitely isn't. It's the queer rom-com of my dreams that younger me most definitely needed.
It's honestly refreshing to know that so many YA readers who are just starting out will have something like this to connect to and most likely cherish the rest of their lives. Reading this was as easy as breathing and I flew through it so fast, at times, I slowed myself down on purpose. Our main character's are a delight and the f/f m/m relationships sell you from the very start.
I'm a lover of both the light and MAINLY the dark when it comes to reading but sometimes pausing and finding something like this blows me away. I absolutely can't wait to purchase this and re-read it over and over. I don't want to spoil the plot because there's quite a bit of time before this comes out but PLEASE try this when you're given the chance!!!!
