Thissss spoke to me on a WHOLE NEW LEVEL. I am always a complete sucker for Magical Realism and it never seems to disappoint me. I really love how fleshed out she makes her worlds and just so in depth the lore and setting can be. I really enjoyed Paige even with the chosen one trope coming in strong, I think a lot of people overlook it with just how far her character goes. The development is beautiful by end of book.

The side characters also make this story what it is, they’re lovable and mysterious yet enthralling to read about. Keep in mind this will mostly come across as YA in a lot of aspects and it’s dystopian fantasy that includes some slow burn romance!

I NEED TO READ THE NEXT ONE IMMEDIATELY. There’s something addicting about Samantha Shannon books

This book definitely exceeded my expectations and I couldn’t be happier! If you’re ready for a DARK fantasy retelling of The Little Mermaid, look no further! This had stunning aesthetics, emotional turmoil, unexpected allies, and revenge at its finest. I couldn’t put it down nor did I want it to end. I’m actually gripping the sides of my seat waiting for all of the installments in the authors Dark Library series. I just know they’ll knock me off my feet! Definitely give this a try! It beautifully melded the classic key points of the fairytale with new and interesting ways to tell the story. Not to mention you put the word “dark” in front of anything and I’ll be there.

Thank you so much to the author for my copy!

Historical eye-openings are a must. This book does a fantastic job of showing parts of history that were severely overshadowed and even covered up. It alternates in time back to the dangerous and horrifying conditions workers and families were in during the 40s with nuclear weapons and the Cold War. This is a must read!

When we reach a certain age there’s an entire new set of rules. Ones we make ourselves and the ones we think society pushes on us. This book was very sweet and even sad at points, the doubt she feels in every decision. Struggling to live for herself. Dropping everything to find adventure and finding love in the process! This was a rollercoaster of emotion. I definitely recommend it!

This was my first dip into the author's waters, and suffice it to say, I’M HOOKED. This was the perfect book to read as the holidays approach. I really enjoyed both Olivia's and Aaron's characters and the build-up. This was a beautiful fake dating, enemies-to-lovers story with tons of fun banter. You should definitely give this book a try!!

Thank you to the author and booked with the Emily’s tours!

This book is a treasure trove of female empowerment, epic adventure, and the might of gods. I have to say I was so pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed this one. The authors writing stirs the pot fantastically, even lingering long after the book was over. I loved Lia, she’s a main character to absolutely root for. This brought back good ole “off to save the village” type fantasy which I am soooo here for! The twists and turns have me very excited for book two because I need MORE.

Thank you so much to Literary Media Tours and the author for this gifted copy!

I really loved the uniqueness of the story and how well the author tied in the original Bram Stoker’s Dracula. It flowed almost effortlessly and the little tiny details that added up with this story mixed with the original was honestly amazing.

I really loved the representation as well and that it was forefront, powerful, and didn’t become a spot of weakness or degration. Honestly this was so much better than I even thought it could be and the authors writing is just the cherry on top. If you’re a lover of multiple POVs, a Gothic setting, and a journey to discovery with vampires this is definitely for you!

Thank you to TBR and beyond tours and Del Rey for my copy!

This book is one of the easiest five stars I’ve ever given because the author just held no bounds when it came to the writing, the pacing, the world, and the atmosphere was all spot on and absolutely added to the writing. Dark Gothic Vampires and enemies to lovers is something I’ll always want to read in the same sentence, especially when the vibes are strictly dark academia a.k.a. one of my faves.

Not only do vampires and humans coexist, but it’s at a beautiful African vampire university, and it was just glorious to read. The representation in this book was absolutely beautiful!

I think I have to say the author REALLY knows how to write a sequel, because wow. I really enjoyed the first book and I honestly wasn’t too sure about what I was getting into for this one. I LOVE these characters and the way I felt attached at the end was nooo jooooke. The Fate plot was interesting and while I enjoyed it and (ESPECIALLY) its ending I think maybe it sidelined death for me, didn’t hate it but I was very intrigued on where it was taking us. All in all this was fantastic. Of course. And I look forward to the third book soon!
