A very thought provoking story is laid before us about Thomas Gainsborough’s daughters. He’s a renowned English painter from the 1700s. I think the perfect way to describe this would be written under the influence of the classics, very Jane Austin-esq. The author does a fantastic job detailing the sisters bond and the lengths they would go for each other. It was a bit slow in the beginning but once we hit our twists things sped along nicely. We have the whirlwinds of polite society dangling over their shoulders along with the kind of treatment women faced when they were dealing with mental health. The young love of Molly’s sister forcing decisions and disaster amongst them. All of this while living under the very prominent shadows of their parents.

The vibes of this completely hit. A unique sleeping beauty retelling?? Sign me up. A questioning nun with a big ole destiny being tormented by the very sorcerer she was "meant" to kill? God tier. I think the main characters are beautifully portrayed and I found myself loving every step of the mystery. This was an easy yet elusive read that had me questioning everything by the end. Lia is fighting to understand the honor she's always been told is hers versus the consequences of her most ruthless actions. This cover is gorgeous and so is the writing, her words completely flow.

This was as shockingly good as it was underwhelming at times. It was a bit of a toss up for me at the end, even though I really like the ending bits. While I enjoyed the distinction the author tried to make with Maeve assuming she’s just not a good person and that’s JUST who she is sometimes there was a disconnect for me. It was almost funny how intense her feelings became when she met Gideon but I really enjoyed the decent into madness for them. And if you take anything out of this review, please remember she has a thing for eggs. And it’s… very eggy. Overall I think this was an enjoyable extreme horror read and I don’t regret trying it out! Especially with the American psycho vibes. You have to try it for yourself lol.

She yearns for nothing more than a “shipwreck of the soul,” Samuel Webster, he wrote the novel Laura loves.
A mixture of fun, dark, cultishly cliquey girls, and feelings every adolescent shelters themself beneath. This book will take you to places you haven’t felt in a long time, if ever. The vibes are marketed towards sapphic dark academia and hearing those words I come running! While I think this was a little underplayed in the grand scheme of things, there was still enough for me to leave it satisfied. The ending while tough to live through, took a dark and unceremonious turn. There’s the main character is I found myself enjoying her way of thinking and how she describes the atmosphere around herself. She’s poetic, naive, looking at the world through giant wondrous doe eyes almost. And as we saw this happens to be her downfall when coming into contact with these girls and the world around them. Very intense and I think anyone looking for something artistic yet literary would enjoy this!

Here Lies Olive is the perfect fall read to help you dive into a season of eery dreams and sapphic love. I thought this was a, somewhat slow, but quick read that gave me all the feelings! Our character sees the Nothing when she has a brush of death and 2 years later she wants even more answers after more grief enters her life. So, she decides summoning a ghost to find out what happens is the perfect way to start. The little snippets of horror we get are perfect and only adds to this YA story! I was really rooting for Olive, I thought she was such a good character. It’s angsty with found family and a likable coming of age story.

This was such a unique and joyful children’s read! It had a fantastic lesson to learn and beautiful diversity. I think the depiction of our main character Morien was perfect. The illustrations and writing throughout really added and made this as good as it possibly could have been. I can’t wait to see more books done like this!

A very niche read! The stories were all ones most of us grew up with but turned dark, gruesome, and grotesque. It was fascinating to see where they’d take it with each one! I certainly enjoyed it but this is NOT for early readers or kids in anyway!

A middle grade story that absolutely destroyed me emotionally? Yes please. It was wonderful to see what they did with this story to portray the hardships of identity. It was a fantastic read and I think this will really help a entire generation of children come to terms with themselves and discover that through a fantasy world.

We’re here for the second book and it did NOT disappoint. Faced with hard truths and an even bigger enemy, our characters are back to speak their hearts and be themselves. Even in the face of what seems to be a society built to undermine those who aren’t the usual norm. Such fantastic storytelling and underlining themes throughout this series and I know it’s only going to get better! We have tons of representation throughout and it makes you feel right at home. I can’t wait to come back for more! This particular one does introduce darker elements and the truly sickening underbelly of power.
