How to cheat on your Goodreads reading challenge 101
Smoke and Ash is a beautiful poetic disaster of feels. I’m literally in awe, it was perfect and the writing was breathtaking ❤️
SECOND READ: December 2018 – SO SO GOOD
Okay wow. This really was the perfect CAELUM fix I didn’t know I needed.
While most of the story is a summary of Caelum’s interactions with Harry, except through his perspective, I really liked the additions the author made, especially about CAELUM’s relationship with Bellatrix. The torture that he had to go through and the modified version of the Strengthening Solution he came up with was ingenious and I sort of wish was canon for the TPP universe. The entire time I couldn’t help comparing CAELUM’s situation with another similar situation, which was sort of depressing. Why do I always find books that just happen to relate to real life at the same time???
The Gala near the end (when Harry was in her fourth year) felt sort of out of character. The whole dance scene with CAELUM didn’t go the way I would have thought and the whole engagement reveal didn’t feel right, but I did like the glimpse we got of Bellatrix and her wavering allegiance to Lord Riddle. I totally feel that this is something that Violet could write into her story.
Excited to read more fics by this author!

3.75/5 stars
This was surprisingly really good! Very different from canon but I actually enjoyed the changes a lot. Almost teared up at the end though

I’m biased cause I wrote this. It’s officially dubbed my “Sad Sirius Fic” series.
Chapter 1: Empty Nights (aka a short oneshot ft. a sad Sirius grieving after Diana’s death)
Chapter 2: A Light in the Dark (platonic relationships are better than romantic relationships don’t @ me, this one is pure pain)
Chapter 3: Diana (I will finish this one at some point)

This was adorable. Very similar to the actual show, at least for the first bit. It does diverge a little after that, but I honestly wasn’t expecting to almost cry at the end there. Also enemies to friends is just perfection
