I was willing to look past the piss kink in the first three chapters, but I read the content warnings after that scene and decided that this book isn’t for me.

Adoptive Incest.
I did not see the trigger warnings on the back cover, and got spooked.

Lost interest; the “modern” chapters had so little happening compared to the shorter and (honestly) more interesting “past” chapters. I was hoping it would pick up speed, but googled a couple spoilers and fear it did not look like a good outcome… So I returned this book early to the library.

My loan on the audiobook at the library expired,,, but I also kind of didnt care enough to find time to listen to the end.

Okay because actually what was that????
For all the on screen traumas she put these characters through, she seemed to just want to… resolve and “heal” those characters off screen and then be like “they’re okay now!”.
I stopped reading right after
Christopher’s death
. But decided to actually DNF after seeing a spoiler online (
about Matthew leaving James
).
To be completely honest, I did not enjoy The Dark Artifices and almost gave up on this author after them, but decided to give The Last Hours a try because I loved The Infernal Devices. But, I am no longer the 11 year old that started these books, and Judith’s inability to keep me invested in the characters that are “important” (or survive) is something I’m not sure I can overlook anymore. I truly may not read The Wicked Powers because of this, and will be reading the wiki page synopsis for the end of this book now.
Maybe someday I will pick up this ebook again and finish the book (and be mad about it) just to have it marked as completed on my Shadowhunters reading challenge, but fuck Judith fr fr.

Plot Lines Weirded Me Out! :))

Realized there’s a plotline where MC finds her foster-brother (someone she’s considered her brother for the past ~20 years) and then… idk falls in love with him? The minute I started to get suspicious, I checked reviews for later books and turns out I was correct. Major ick on the books.
Also the pacing is very fast, plot is splashed in between spicy scenes and seems almost as if the plot exists only to furthur spice scenes. Overall, not great books. I was enjoying them as a guilty pleasure up until the Sam plotline. (Still not sure why the author went for Sam, when Nico with a redemption arc would’ve gone crazy. But since I’m not finishing the series, I think I’ll just pretend that Nico is the fifth, not Sam..)

While I was entertained, my fan translation wasn't... the best so it was difficult to continue reading.

Plot felt too easily predictable and characters weren’t interesting enough to keep me entertained. Also pseudo-incest romance that made me uncomfortable.

Lost interest in what felt like a slow plot, and I found myself more lost than interested.
