I Love this book. Shon’s writing is very whimsical. I enjoyed the character development. This was an intro to the genre for me. And it did not disappoint. Readers will find comfort in a sleepy mountain town with a cast of supporting characters. It’s like a hug in a book.

I enjoyed the characters in this story so much. What I really liked about the MC’s Sincere, Lorenzo and Rome is that they were really in touch with their emotions. I enjoyed watching FMC Goldyn change and grow and adjust to this life style. This book is a cute cozy read. Perfect for anyone new to the genre. Great for those who need an escape from the world and need to get lost in a coastal mountain town. 

I finished this book in under a week. I was hooked. The story is addictive and compelling. 

This book is a cornerstone to the Beverly Jenkins historical romance universe. It’s informative with a lot of history on all Black towns founded by newly freed or escaped slaves. History in female Black physicians. There is plenty supporting cast that readers can enjoy as well. There are heavy themes throughout. 

A favorite of mine. Beverly Jenkins second debut novel “Indigo” introduces audiences to characters who get their own stories; all before the civil war.
