I was genuinely surprised.

I honestly thought this would be a far to cliche, cheesy, cringe fest romance (which it was in a way), but I was surprised.

I enjoyed this a lot. Now Destiny towards the end kinda got on my nerves, but I really liked this book.

And it was surprising. Usually when I read YA contemporaries, their either trash or OK. I rarely get a fun, cute, memorable, and enjoyable contemporary. And this book was really short too so it was like a 2 1/2 hour read.

And I really liked the characters, even though her dad dads rule was ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS. Imagine being a high school Junior and being forbidden to date ANYONE, never having a first kiss, and forced to look at hot, sweaty, guys without shirts for 2-4 hours. That would suck.

Now I did cringe (A lot) during this book, hence why the 4 stars, but it was still funny and sweet enough for me to enjoy.

(Another shit review from yours truly -Abi)

(PS: That should be my Outro for every review of mine now)

(PPS: You know what, it’s going to be)

Ok I’ll go now. Bye

I went to the library and checked out a bunch of contemporaries because well, Fantasy, and Sci-Fi are failing for me right now.

This book is a typical Kasie West book. The main character isn’t the greatest person, finds herself, becomes better and gets the guy she wants.

Kasie West books are interesting enough and easy to read even though their definitely cliche.

So yeah, it wasn’t awful or anything, but it by no means changed my point of view on life or made me fall in love with Kasie West.

I enjoyed the ‘tomboy’ esc main character, although she was a little to much like the ‘iM nOt LiKe OtHeR gIrLs’ type, but I still liked her character even though she as an absolute bitch at the beginning.

I think I gravitate towards Kasie West books at times because I enjoy the character development. Maybe? Or maybe it’s the fact her writing is light-hearted and easy to read?

I don’t know. This review is kinda trash not gonna lie. But hey, at least you get to know my thoughts scrambled together!

But anyways, like I said general Kasie West story. Nothing special but sweet and a light-hearted contemporary something I definitely need right now

3.5 Stars ⭐️

*This book contains drugs, alcohol, manipulation from the Clay guy, and somewhat smutty scenes. Nothing to graphic though.*

This book was pleasantly surprising. I enjoyed it a lot, and it was really sweet and fun contemporary romance. A girl and boy next door forbidden to be together, and finally work out their odds. Sounds fun right?

I had a few problems with this book though, hence why I gave it 3.5 stars. The book itself was fun, juicy, heartwarming, and a tint of sadness. But their were issues that I was bothered by when finishing this read.

• First off, was Samantha and Nan’s friendship rekindled? We really didn’t get to see if their friendship was made up or not, so the Fitzpatrick makes you assume it’s not. But, like I said we don’t know for sure.

• Next thing, did Samantha really make up with her mother? Honestly? Again it’s the same scenario with her mother. Fitzpatrick makes you assume one thing, but doesn’t tell you.

• Another thing is the author does more telling than showing in this story. It wasn’t all the time, but it was blandly obvious how Fitzpatrick didn’t really want to show us.

• Also, what happened with the Reeds and Garetts? Did the Garetts forgive Gracie? Do they resent her? Are they still angry? We don’t know because again Fitzpatrick didn’t show us.

• I have two more things. One being did Sam’s mom sell the house, or did she not? In the epilogue or chapter 53, we don’t know if she did or not. Tracy, Samantha’s sister, basically accuses their mom of running away from her problems and saying ‘Samantha has gone through enough this summer.’ But, we honestly didn’t know if her mom sold the house or not? This was another one of those instances where the author just made us guess.

• And finally, we didn’t really get closure. This just goes back to all of my bullet points. We didn’t really get a full on ending and we don’t really know what happened with Sam. We didn’t get a sequel either (not that we needed one) to tell us what happened, so this is again a case where we just have to end up assuming things.

But I gave it 3.5 stars because it was such an enjoyable and funny contemporary romance. I connected with the Garrets on so many levels, and I felt like sometimes I was indeed Samantha. The storyline and plot was very sweet, and while their were issues and I recognize them, I still enjoyed the book thoroughly.

I do recommend this book to people who can express these problems, and still enjoy the lighted hearted and fun filled contemporary about a boy and girl who have no experience in love and are figuring it out together.

*This book contains drugs, alcohol, manipulation from the Clay guy, and somewhat smutty scenes. Nothing to graphic though.*

This is by no means literary arts. ‘The Fill in Boyfriend’ is just a sweet contemporary romance about a girl named Gia who’s a really big bitch, gets dumped on prom night, needs to find a fill in boyfriend, and then he changed her into a better person.

I already tried to read a Kacie West book, but DNF’ed it because I just take anymore. This one was pleasantly sweet though, and a bit annoying but cute.

Again not literary arts here, but if your looking for a sweet contemporary then this is probably the book for you.

Omfg I read this on Wattpad, and all imma say is, I’m soft for Caleb Lockheart

WHAT I LIKED

I really liked the characters in this book. Lou was so fun to read about, and so fucking funny. Her I-really-don’t-give-a-fuck-attitude is so hilarious. I loved reading in Reid’s POV, and I think that he could be such a cutie. (Even though he was a badass).

I enjoyed our side characters, and the plot twists ensued. The hate to love romance was fun, and I haven’t read one of those for a very long time.

The plot line was good, and the feud between the witches and the church was very believable.

I also liked how how this book gave us a different take on witches.

WHAT I DIDN’T LIKE

The way this book discriminated women was disgusting and I really didn’t enjoy it.

I also think that the world building was shitty and it had more potential than given.

OVERALL THOUGH, GREAT BOOK

- Another shitty review from yours truly, Abi

- Also low key want the 2nd book like right now

- And I’m reading Wilder Girls right now and I’m kinda despising it ngl

- I’m also jumping for joy because ‘The Queen of Nothing’ is coming out this month

Look, it wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t exactly good either. If was shitty, it was trashy, it was tropy, but it was fine. I honestly don’t know why I was expecting a high quality YA fantasy.

Really all this book is? A bunch of tropes and different books smashed together to make one book. (BOOKS - Shadow and bone, hints of the selection, red queen, a court of thorns and roses, which conveniently I didn’t like any of these books that much). (TROPES - To many to name tbh. But a few: main guy character is a brooding and mysterious asshole bad boy in the beginning, main heroine relies on everyone else to save her, and everyone claims she’s powerful but really isn’t, the classic sexual tension between the two main characters as their fighting or practicing).

I enjoyed it more towards the end, and the romance between Ruby and Arkas (I have no fucking idea how to spell that shit) was ok, but again it wasn’t spectacular.

Our main character was kind of weak heroine, and I guess our main guy character was fine but kinda douchee. Our villain was cruel and to the point, but he wasn’t evil enough.

The plot was very unoriginal, and the characters didn’t really have personalities other than the tropes that made them characters, but I enjoyed it alright I guess.

And I generally like the audiobook. This is my first audiobook I’ve ever listened to, and it’s safe to say that I will be using audiobooks more in the future.

But again, overall I really didn’t think this job was anything special. The only reason it got its 3 stars, is mainly for my enjoyment. Sure, maybe when I don’t have anything else to read I’ll read the sequel, but for now I’m good

I mean really. What tf was this? Actually.

The first 30-40% of this book was solid and I thought I was gonna enjoy the whole thing and wound up with a 3.5 or 4 star read. But this just went way fucking downhill.

First, we’ve seen this story and plot so many fucking times. Naive human girl meets sexy vampire king. For some reason their mates, but oh no it’s because of a witch and her 2 sisters that have names that all sound the same.

The sex in this book was very poorly written, the dirty talk was cringy, and the amount of times the male character says ‘my queen’ makes me wanna gag.

The characters were fine. I liked our main girl (forgot her name 5 minutes after reading the book), she was strong and feministic. Our main guy character Liam was an ok dude. Kinda alpha male trash (but he’s not a werewolf haha. I’m so punny) but he’s cool I guess.

Our villain guy was an idiot and very bad at insulting our main character. Really dude. - ‘I’ve never loved you, I’ve always been in love with that bitches name I can’t remember because I don’t fucking care enough’. I mean really dude? Come on.

We also get no insight as to how our main characters dad dies, and the angst between him and the witch bitch.

Their claimed to have been a plot between Liam and our main bitch before she woke him up, but we don’t see any of it. How am I supposed to believe that bullshit when I have literal no flashbacks or physical evidence?

And having sex while a fucking dagger is stuck in your side? Really Liam, just because it’s been 20 years since you’ve put your dick in someone, doesn’t mean u can’t fucking wait Jesus.

Another thing that irked me was the pacing! The author doesn’t know how to fucking pace a book. Our main character we’re having sex, in a bedroom, in a cabin, in the woods, 2 DAYS INTO THEIR ‘RELATIONSHIP’! Wtf?! The pacing was just horrendous.

We get no world building and absolutely no insight on how vampires started, how long they’ve been living, what’s the human world like, what about the werewolves, Fae, and witches?

I mean really what the actual fuck was this?! I just don’t understand what I just read.

I mean it’s a paranormal romance so I don’t know why I was expecting something so great. I just found it on kindle unlimited and read it.

But overall, I kinda hate this book. I don’t really give books one stars, but wtf was this shit?! I mean come one, seriously?

- Another shit review from Abi

- I’m 5 books away from my 50 books goal now and I’m super excited because then I’ll have all of next year to read instead of the half of the year I had this year!
