So I’ve read marvel comics before, and I’ve read some of Nat’s comics before, but I’ve never kept track of the ones I’ve read. I’ve now made it my mission to read every marvel comic that includes winterwidow (or almost every marvel comic bc they might be in little snippets of long runs n stuff. Just the mainstream black widow, winter soldier, captain america & avengers stuff basically lol) bc I adore them and I want to read their full story through the comics. So I’m starting here and working my way up.


I don’t remember ever reading this comic run, and this first issue was a little lackluster and albeit confusing. The pacing was weird, and I wasn’t a huge fan of the art style, especially Bucky’s character design. However, I’m really intrigued to read more about Natasha’s entry into the red room (which is one of my favorite parts about Natasha both in the mcu and in the 616 comic runs that I’ve read), and Wolverine was an interesting addition to this?? I definitely wasn’t expecting that, and now I’m even more intrigued to pick up some X-Men stuff bc the X-Men are awesome. Anyway, pretty mediocre, but regardless, I’m still gonna finish this run.

The hero was such an asshole in the beginning, and I feel like these two characters didn’t have enough chemistry for me to believe they were in love by the end. Probably would have DNF’ed if I didn’t own this.

I liked this a lot less than TOG. I just think SJM is not the author for me

This was short and pretty simple, but I really enjoyed this. The hero was literally so in love with our heroine, it was absolutely adorable. If you want pining and angst but condemned to about 200 pages, read this.

Another cliffhanger? S.T. Abby is just asking me to binge these. Anyways, I’m literally so addicted to this series, it’s so entertaining

This was a great ending to the series. I was on the edge of my seat, praying Lana got her revenge and a good ending with Logan. This wrapped up really nicely, and I really enjoyed this series as a whole

Second read — April 2022


So I decided to reread this book bc I really want to get into the spin-off series All Saints High and I didn’t really remember much from this. I rated this 4 stars the first time I read it, but I’m bumping down my rating a whole star. This was fine and fun, but I just couldn’t stand Emilia or Vicious (and I laughed every time Vicious’s name came up). These characters felt very immature, and reckless.


There were flashback scenes from when Emilia and Vicious were in high school, and despite that timeline taking place 10 years prior, it felt like these characters had no discernible growth and development. The timelines felt a little interchangeable in terms of character personality, and it was truly annoying. I’m all for morally gray, asshole characters who have a fucked up moral compass and come off as extremely unlikeable. In fact, some of my favorite characters are all those things.


But Emilia and Vicious were just annoying with this personality traits, and not charming at all. I couldn’t find myself to enjoy their characters, or sympthaize with their struggles. We really only got full character development in the last 20% of the book, when Vicious starts groveling for Emilia. And my petty ass honestly didn’t think he groveled enough. I enjoyed most of the plot and I was entertained with the story, but I just couldn’t find myself to care abt the relationship as much as I did the first time reading.


Honestly, this isn’t meant to be a rude statement or anything, but Vicious honestly reads like a mid Wattpad book. The writing is cheesy at times and mediocre at best. The characters aren’t very fleshed out, and the story is one of the ones you have to suspend your disbelief for a lot (which is a major thing in a lot of Wattpad books I’ve read). And don’t get this statement twisted. Some of my favorite books ever are Wattpad books. But we all know some of the things that are written on Wattpad aren’t peak literature, and that’s honestly what this feels like???


I am intrigued to read the rest of the series though. I didn’t get around to doing that the first time, and I really liked Dean and Rosie. I’m interested to learn more abt their relationship, and also read the first prequel novella in this series so I can read the spin-off books. But unfortunately, I didn’t love Vicious as much as I did as a first time reader.
