I hated this book, and I feel bad saying that, but I didn’t enjoy a single thing about this story. Dracula dragged for the entire thing, and I didn’t like any of the characters. 2 stars only because I’m glad I read it, but this was one of the most boring books I’ve ever read.

Day 1,000 of me trying to find a good NA fantasy-romance…

This book was if Throne of Glass and A Court of Thorns and Roses had a very ugly and gangly love child, with poor world building, annoying characters, and choppy writing (who am I kidding, that’s exactly what SJM writes anyways…) and I just can’t take it anymore. I was literally listening to the audiobook and I couldn’t get to 30%.

I think if those are series that you enjoyed or appeal to you, you’ll probably really like Lady of Darkness. Unfortunately for me, I didn’t enjoy either of those series, especially the writing and tropes that take place in them. I was enjoying this at first, but as Lady of Darkness went on, I just kept comparing how similar Maas’s books are to this one, and I started outwardly cringing at the corny dialogue and FMC.

That type of “classic fantasy” book style isn’t for me, and it never really has been. I think this book has such a high rating bc a lot of Maas fans came over to this book. This is also another one of those fantasy-romances that are tagged as New Adult but it’s really just YA in disguise with aged up characters. All of these characters actions make me think they’re 16 or 17 bc of their immaturity (and bc this a classic YA fantasy plot). I just want to find a good NA fantasy-romance y’all, I’ve been searching forever.
