mysterious slow-paced
Plot or Character Driven: Plot

A group of friends brought together by a tragedy that meet annually at the outer banks. This story is told in dual timelines on what led up to the tragedy as well as present day with the survivors and what is happening between them. I enjoyed the dual time line and felt the story was a little slow. Not much of a thriller but I enjoyed seeing the effects the tragedy had on the survivors.

Why did I wait so long to read this. You must listen to this on audio, it was so good. Viola Davis is an amazing actress and to hear about her background, wow - she is one determined lady. I love the grit and succeeding against her odds.

Thank you @smpromance for a copy of this book. This book focuses on Bella who is at a crossroads with her life and her BFF, Ellie, is moving out to marry Mark who Bella finds boring and intolerable. The story focuses on Bella's dates and she tries to turn them from fairy tales like Cinderella and writes about them. I didn't like how Bella treated Ellie or her twin brother throughout the story. Bella was a bit self centered but does redeem herself at the end.

This book was recommend by @cookie.the.bookie and I always trust her recs. I love the trope of childhood crush + marriage of convenience. I love the flash back of when Olive was young and her interaction with Jason. The present day and great with hoe protective Jason was of Olive. I enjoyed the dual POV and loved the narration. This was a fun story with a good level of steam.

This was a bit angsty which is signature of LJ Shen's book. I haven't read anything from Huntington so I wasn't sure what to expect from this book. A forced marriage between Romeo and Dallas creates a lot of tension and hate between them. I thought the story was fine but the idea of going so far for a revenge to marry someone you don't love just seemed so odd to me.

Thank you @prhaudio for a copy of this book. I love that nod to SNL and the behind the scenes of the life of a writer on such a show. I saw some reviews where they didn't enjoy the email exchanges that happens in the middle of the book but I actually enjoyed it especially as it relates back in 2020 in the height of the pandemic. I enjoyed Sally's character and found her funny and very likable. I loved seeing Noah and Sally's journey to become a couple but did find it kind of odd that Noah took so long to reach out to Sally.

Thank you @macmillan.audio for a copy of this audiobook. If you are looking for adults behaving badly, look no further. There's a lot of characters which makes it a little difficult to follow especially they are all cheating with other characters. This book really focused more on the behaviors of these couples and the dead body was really a small part of the story which I expected to play a bigger part.

Thank you @libro.fm for a copy of this audiobook. I have so many thoughts on this book.

Here's what I loved about this book:
- the narration was great from the pronunciation of Hawaiian words to the pidgin English that was used
- this was a great book with history of Hawaii and what the colonization did to the Hawaiians
- the idea of family vs ohana

Here's what I didn't like about it:
- the 3rd person POV, it didn't make me feel invested in the story
- the amount of history and lack of conversation in the first half of the book

Overall, this was a great fictional story with a lot of historical aspects of Hawaii.

What a great book to end this trilogy and reading Radha's story. I love how this is good as her a wife, mom with a career as a perfumist in the 70s where it was not normal for a woman to have a career. This story delved into so many topics and I love how all the characters developed in each book. This is a stand alone but I highly recommend reading all 3 as all the characters play a part in each book.

Thank you @AuthorElanaJohnson @KateRockBookTours for a copy of this book.

This is the perfect book to bring on vacay. I love how Sloan and Murph met while Sloan is on the way to her own solo honeymoon and ask someone at the airport to go with her. Their friendship is good and this trip to Belize was the turn of their relationship. The banter and slow burn was so good. There are so many tender and laugh out loud moments.
