Thank you to Boldwood Books for the e-arc of this book.
Full disclosure, I DNFed this book at 70%. The premise was promising, but the execution was fumbled. The writing was clunky, making normal conversations seem awkward. The convos weren’t snappy, and all felt a little roundabout even when they were being direct. The characters also annoyed me, especially when trying to be “furtive” but doing PDA in such public places (i.e., the Brooklyn Bridge). I also did not like Hayley, the fmc’s boss, at ALL. She rubbed me the wrong way. Other side characters were okay, but I’m sorry to say this book was not it for me.

Thank you to Kodansha for the e-arc of this manga omnibus! This is such a compelling historical manga. Set in Holy Roman Empire Europe, it follows a Japanese mercenary seeking revenge for the death of his master. A man of honor and fidelity, Issak is a strong main character and noble in his cause. The art style was immaculate, with such detail in every panel. The story is epic and only just beginning. I would recommend this to anyone wanting to start a new historical saga that doesn’t shy away from violence, war, and loyalty. The drawings are graphic and the content is mature, so please check trigger warnings. 4.75 🌟
Graphic: Death, Gore, Gun violence, Blood, Murder, War, Injury/Injury detail

Thank you to Kodansha for the e-arc of this manga! This is a sweet story of a friendship between a “delinquent” student and the new kid in his class. It seems to tackle topics of neurodiversity too as Uno presents to be on the spectrum. I liked how Kobayashi is very open-minded and kind regarding any differences between him and Uno. One thing that I didn’t love was that Uno seemed a bit infantilized through the writing and the art, but I could be reading more into it than I need to be. I like how he’s so passionate about space and Kobayashi is trying to learn about his interests. Overall, a 3.5 🌟 read
