This was really fun! The characters were very relatable. I loved Lana & Megan. I liked the backdrop, the twists & I would continue the series. 10/10 would eat at Ho-Lee Noodles

It starts off really slow and rambling. It’s short, especially short for King but seemed to go nowhere for the first 40%. Jonesy grew on me though, and then the story picked up steam.

This was really well done. The characters had depth, the racial tensions aspect added to the story. I audiobooked it and between the chapters had blurbs from a true crime podcast & breaking news. Incredibly entertaining.

This is probably a hugely unfair rating. It was very funny & relatable… however too relatable, to the point where I didn’t want to listen to it because I live with this internal monologue all day. Why am I listening to you when it’s like this in my own 🧠 ? Confirmation bias aside.

Loved it. A very entertaining thriller.

Everyone’s behavior & emotions were so random, the jumps between different scenes were so jarring: oh, we’re sad, now we are in combat, having sex again, sad, in a library maybe. A mishmash of random vampire lore that did nothing to serve the plot.

Interesting musings on running & writing as a way of life. But overall not a must read for fans of either subject. While somewhat fitting that it was anticlimactic… any runner who bonked a race will understand… it wasn’t particularly inspiring & didn’t have a cohesive purpose.

I ended up liking this, but the book it was at the beginning ended up being entirely different from the ending. The tone didn’t fit the early chapters & it got stronger as it went on.

Jemisin is an absolute genius. The premise, world, magic (narcomancy) is so unlike anything I’ve read before.

Inspired by the BLM movement & all too familiar headlines that barely seem to make a full news cycle any more. Touches on the big & small ways society, communities & individuals are impacted by racism & police brutality.
