I am a fan of Finlay’s I find him right up there with Sager in terms of bingeworthiness. I saw many many harsh reviews of this one even from other fans BUT I really liked it. A popcorn thriller with an interesting set of characters. Fast paced. Fun. 

Honestly this starts off with 1 of my least favorite YA/fantasy tropes & I was completely ready to be hater. But it was in fact quite good. 

An extremely satisfying culmination of the developments this far with plenty of hope &problems left for the future.

This was a good read. 

Women & girls start manifesting powers, they attempt to adapt to society as society is hesitant to adapt to them. 

 

It’s told in a very interesting way and is bookended by a conversation between 2 fictional authors seething with day to day sexism (would you say that to me if I was a man? Flipped on its head) 

I thoroughly enjoyed this installment. 

The pacing &time spent on each viewpoint was more balanced than in the 2nd book. 

 

As it’s standard YA our romances get romancier but stay closed door. At times the chapter shifts to another character right before any deep introspection can occur which understandably is done to keep it lighter but I would have liked to dig a bit deeper in a few instances. 

 

Fun, but a couple plot holes and lots of implausible behavior. 

This is too long 😐
A few things went on too long, time spent on things irrelevant to the plot… I wasn’t shocked by any of the shocking twists. Modern day Agatha Christie this was not. 

This series gets better and better as it goes. Loved it.

🤦🏻‍♀️ we have had a lot of ups & downs, ebbs & flows in this 32 book series. I feel I can confidently say that this was THE WORST one. I was optimistic when I saw the page count that the fluff was trimmed & it would be focused on the plot. It was not. There is no plot. The plot is cancelled. The enemy she introduced was totally out of the box & I was expecting great things….
