So Will & Sara’s vacation was about as relaxing as you would expect. A tormentor from Will’s past resurfaces in this locked room mystery of sorts at a remote lodge. 

This was amazing, sick & twisted. I’ve thought her writing has skewed a bit “younger” since Pieces of Her, but this as broody & dark as the prior Will Trents. Loved it.

Very descriptive &sensual &kinda sweet actually? 

Cute. It’s like a middle aged Sookie Stackhouse series. Fun, will continue series, even if the MC let out SEVERAL breaths she didn’t realize she was holding.

It’s genius but too much going on and only 1 completed character arc in 1100 pages

So fun. Loved it. 

At first it was just 3 terrible people being terrible, but it was v twisty & came together well. 

BUT - I don’t know what to make of that last twist. Really preposterous. 

Loved it. Holly’s character progression, her found family with the Robinsons, the villains with their Liver King junk science.

People are hating on the “political stuff” but where I felt it was out of place in some other SK books (Elevation, Billy Summers) …it’s not here. Holly is an anxious, phobic, compassionate person. In 2021, after Jan 06, & people swearing Covid is “a hoax” or “just the flu” when you have had family members die… Holly’s sentiments were very relatable.

I really loved this. 

La Femme Nikita/Leon the Professional vibes. 

Nena Knight is sold into human trafficking as a youth, manages to escape & be trained as a “dispatcher” for The Tribe (an elite group uniting the powers of multiple African countries). A solid foundation. With plenty of action, a bit of romance & a couple big twists. 

Very solid. While there are familiar themes, there are some things done particularly well (Gray’s alcoholism in particular, spot on where some other thrillers don’t look at anything outside of blackouts and hangovers) and enjoyed that the detective was doing better at following the trail than the drunk woman. Rich people, family secrets. 

Read for the titular story. Really good, love Holly’s development.
