I must have had FOMO seeing everyone reading this, I don’t know what compelled me to even place a library hold for this.. I hated the first book. Not shockingly, I didn’t love this BUT it was better. The chapters rotate POVs, so I only had to deal with insufferable Amber intermittently, but Daph’s problems were so much her own doing (talk to your kids!) & the side plots got a bit over the top.

Very enchanting. I wish some of the characters had been developed a bit more, but it was very atmospheric and sweet. 

Loved it. 🌶️🥵 great spice. Love how House Gluttony is portrayed, Gabriel’s plotting & the ICE DRAGONS! Adriana spirals quite a bit, from the perspective of being a single woman without a suitable match who can’t afford another scandal… it’s not that I don’t get it, but ooof. Luckily it doesn’t dwell there for too long, she was a lil maddening. Really loving this series!

A non-supernatural Darcy Coates & I liked this better than other books I’ve read from her, if I look at it even passingly I can find a plot hole or 2 left unresolved but it was really gory, action packed & entertaining. The characters were compelling, & just when you thought you might have it figured out there was a twist. Not flawless, but very fun!

At first I found this really daunting because there was YET ANOTHER format/POV shift… and Kay had yet another job in another location… but the POV back to strictly Kay was welcome, as circular & obsessive as her thoughts are. 

 

All the familiar faces are there, along with a character from Kay’s past. She comes “home” to Cambridge after a fellowship & finds that she has lost her grip on the day to day operations & no one had the guts to tell her.

The middle is too long & the plot goes in circles. Marino’s crimes seem forgotten (maybe Cornwell realized there needed to be 1 layperson, a bunch of nerds wouldn’t have anything to explain to the reader). 

Probably won’t stand out for me over time, but a decent thriller

Didn’t love this one, the plot was too chaotic in its hurry to set up for the next book. &to get past the unnecessary heteronormative vampire rules an intersected character is added but her treatment by the MC was… not great.

Super bingeable family drama/mystery takes place the day leading up to a famous author’s 60th bday party as her daughter reflects on a death from 30 years ago… & a death that will happen later that night.
