I enjoyed the ending of this. The characters went through so much together, it can be hard to give a satisfying conclusion but this hit the mark.

Even picking up where book 2 left off, with danger at every corner it still felt as if everything happened all at once towards the last 3rd of the book, but it was really good.

Read for a  banned book club: this book is banned for being sexually explicit & depicting CSA.

The book follows Pecola Breedlove and those around her, showing the impact of racism on her perception of herself. This racism includes internalized racism and being othered by those within her community and lack of support at home.

Very visceral, emotional and alarming. Not an enjoyable read but an impactful one. 

Billed as “sci-fi Holmes & Watson” & it hit that mark. That silly spellings & months were unnecessary, but it was an entertaining story, if not a big stand out for me. I’ll try the next one because I think these characters do have potential. 

The series seems to be back on track. Again we stick with Scarpetta instead of head hopping. Insecurities make sense, even if some previous plot lines seem washed away. 

A cold case & a slew of suspicious death impacts 1 of their own. Wraps up a little quick, but the science makes sense & the connections were intriguing.

THIS BOOK IS SO GOOD! And absolutely filthy. I don’t really do dark romance, but someone posted a clip of the audio (it’s a duet, which is rare) & I was like “oooh is this funny, I didn’t know it was funny” & the Male narrator (Jacob Morgan) 🥵 so hot. highly recommend the audio in particular but the book is amazing in general. So steamy, moments of humor, moments of heart & vulnerability, hurt/comfort, all the good stuff.

A good Norse inspired saga. I feel like it could have been a bit shorter (did we need every character’s thoughts at each scene?) it was good and read pretty quick for the length. Jael is a badass, annoying characters develop, & the side characters grow on you.

Jael is stuck in an arranged marriage to drunken buffoon Eadmund in order to forge an alliance between their lands. Lost of sword swinging &secret alliances ensue

It really wasn’t as good as the first 1 which had a lot of world building & character development. This one now didn’t need to set that up there could have been more action, trials, conflict, etc ESPECIALLY being written as a duology -I expected more. It’s wasn’t bad, but just kind of meandered. 

For a short as it is… there’s a lot of repetition & filler. Vaguely festive.
