I knew I was going to like this one just based off of what I already knew about Nero. He is a violent, reckless womanizer. Zero respect for the women he sleeps with and zero intention of ever settling down. Loves his cars more than people.
Enter Camille. Badass, unsocial mechanic who is taking care of her father and brother because they deserve a comfortable life and she will sacrifice her own happiness to make sure that happens.
Loved these two! The best part was seeing Nero notice all of these little things about Camille that he unexpectedly becomes obsessed with.
Love a bank heist. Love their shared passion about classic cars. Love how she fits right in with the Gallo family.
Super cute! Less mafia-ish than the other books but still very good.

I'm not 100% sold on them as a couple but if it makes Dante happy then I am happy because he deserves everything

OKAY! This book reminded me of a Hallmark movie- big city lady lawyer with no time for love winds up on a horse ranch in Tennessee and falls in love with charming cowboy.
But then add in the extra layers of her Mafia ties and the multiple murder attempts on her life while said cowboy is also a military trained sniper and mercenary.
I didn't know that this was what I was missing from Hallmark movies and I LOVE it.

I need the entire first book from Hawke's perspective now- please and thank you.

This romcom follows Dani, a spunky interior designer, who is coming out of a 3 year relationship after discovering her ex-fiancé, Sam, cheated on her a month before their wedding. Obviously resentful, Dani hatches a plan to build a "spite house" on the lot next door to the home her and Sam were going to live. She enlists the help of her new landlady, her cousin, and the talented but grumpy architect from her firm, Wyatt Montego, to make this vengeance a reality.
The premise of this story immediately grabbed my attention - because, hello, I LOVE an opportunity for pettiness and this just sounded like an excellent and grandiose scheme to get back at someone. Add in a Grumpy/Sunshine workplace romance plot and I'm sold.
I really liked Dani and Wyatt as characters. I just wish they actually interreacted MORE. The moments that they do are pure gold. Wyatt is so clearly into her from the start and it's so cute how he is trying to insert himself into her life.
Overall, this was a cute story. I do like how it all comes together at the end, I just wish we got to spend a little more time focusing on these two characters vs the heavy details of the spite house. I think this is also a story that would have benefited from a dual POV format- the inner workings of Wyatt's mind would have been very interesting. I would have loved to see his internal struggle of maintaining a professional boundary and his desire to get close to Dani.
Thank you to Harlequin Trade Publishing and Graydon House for sending me an eARC vis NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

This book had a lot of ups and downs for me but, ultimately, am I absolutely ready to see Poppy kick some ass in the next book
