I'm so conflicted about this because, on one hand, I really enjoyed the writing style of this novella. Taryn's direct apology to Jude. It was a really nice glimpse into the events of the first book but through the eyes of Taryn.
On the other hand, I REALLY do not think Taryn's actions and choices are justified.
I WANTED to feel more sympathy for her after this but I am only annoyed. And absolutely enraged at Locke. What a total dick

I really enjoyed this one a LOT more than Pestilence.

*Immediately starts reading The Queen of Nothing*
Wow! What an excellent continuation of the first book. I continue to be absolutely enchanted with the dark and dangerous world of Faerie and everything in it.
The court politics, schemes, and deception just keep on coming and I cannot get enough.
The development of the relationships is phenomenal- and I don't just mean Jude and Cardan (but yes, I love them). All of the relationships in this story are just so deep and convoluted. The past continues to creep back in to their present and adds such a delicious layer to the drama.
AND. THAT. ENDING. Ugh! I had to immediately start the next book.

"To family and Faerieland and pizza and stories and new beginnings and scheming great schemes."
This is an absolutely gorgeous world that Holly Black has created in Elfhame. Dark and whimsical and utterly perfect. I also loved how the faerie world sits adjacent to the modern human world.
I believe Jude is my new spirit animal. She's is clever and resourceful- using her human "flaws" to her advantage. She is ruthless and brilliant.
The court politics, the scheming, the lies and treachery- UGH ! I love these things in my fantasy.
I'm so excited to devour this series.
