A nice follow up to Choosing Theo. I wasn't as sucked in by Alice and Luka's story (not in the same way that Jade and Theo's story grabbed me.)
Overall though, it was enjoyable. I really liked the introduction to a wider cast of characters in this book though. Definitely setting up for the possibility of so many new couples.

So fun to reared this after starting the series last year 😊
Solid 3⭐ this time around
Georgie and Vektal's story is fun and a bit campy but it does suffer from first book in a long series symptom.
This book dedicated a lot of time to world building and introducing other characters that we will later read about. Because of that, Georgie and Vektal's relationship feels a little rushed and underdeveloped.
I remember when I first read this (my very first alien romance) and Georgie mentions how "at least he can't get me pregnant since we're not the same species,"... I thought "yeah, that makes total sense. Cool" .......... 🤣 Oh, how I have learned the ways of alien romance now.
Fun times😆. Can't wait to continue the series and rank these books!
TWs: brief on-page depiction of rape (early on in the story, of a non-main character), brief mentions of death.

I absolutely adore Liz and Raahosh! 💙
Look, they are both grumpy. They are both stubborn. And they're both a little asshole-ish. That shouldn't make them so likeable to me, but I can't help it. I love them.
Liz is so funny and has no time for anyone's bullshit.
And Raahosh!! 🥹🥹 A big scary, scarred grump on the outside and a soft teddy bear that just wants to love and be loved on the inside.
Their banter throughout was just perfect. It starts off so antagonistic and slowly transforms. Liz is a talker and Raahosh just indulges her constant chatter with an affectionate my little weirdo is just going to say weird shit attitude.

I have such mixed feelings about this book and this couple.
Because here is the thing- I totally get why people like Kira & Aehako’s story. It is such a sweet friends to lovers situation where they make the decision to be together despite there not being a resonance. And that is such a nice concept in a fated-mates trope – the idea that you choose and love one another before knowing you’re mates. The other two stories leading up to this are the opposite- “we are resonance mates” first and then the love develops afterward.
And I love Aehako – his big goofy himbo energy and desire to make Kira smile is just the sweetest. It’s Kira that is the issue for me… I just don’t love the awkward, virginal, prudish characterization. And her Eeyore energy is SUCH A DOWNER. (I understand that she has a right to be depressy but it doesn’t mean I like it lol).
And to be honest, there is just not enough animosity and angst in their relationship for me. (I am a sucker for that Liz/Raahosh energy). Friends to lovers is just not my fave.
Super excited to continue and read Harlow’s book though!! 😊
