Before I say anything else, I need you to know that I literally almost threw this book across the room and called it quits on page 21. My journey almost prematurely ended because Dagesh took it too far. That man literally fucked a snowbank because he was so overcome with lust after realizing Nora was his mate. The woman was too stunned to speak. Surely I did not read that correctly. But yes. It’s true.
I died. I took a break. And then I persevered.
This is the final flashback story featuring Nora and Dagesh. Overall, it was a fun and sweet story where Nora struggles to explain to her mate what kind of activities she prefers in the furs and sweet Dagesh learns all about kink.
Of course, two of my worst nemeses caused all of the confusion here…. Vektal with the bad advice and Stacey with the “oh maybe Nora wants a Jewish wedding.” A mess lol.
I was a little frustrated with Nora as well because she literally explains her kink as poorly as Georgie explains mistletoe. Like, absolutely terrible. It’s no wonder why Dagesh freaked out. Thank god for Josie who actually gave him good information and advice. She was the real MVP in all of this.
I liked how they met in the middle once they finally started communicating with one another and Dagesh got to learn a little more about himself and what he likes…. ahem primal and spanking. (Also, the fact that his safe word was “Pashov” killed me.)

Uhhmm. It was fine. I didn’t dislike this but I also didn’t like it either.
Megan and Cashol felt a little chaotic but not the good kind of chaotic where it feels intentional (like Maddie and Hassen). This felt like the author had so many ideas for where she wanted these characters story to go and instead of committing to one fully, we got a little bit of everything, and it never felt fully developed.
I love the concept of this couple that everyone perceived as having no issues from the start actually having a really rocky beginning behind closed doors.
There’s two ways I could have and would have preferred to see this go:
1. Really diving into the fact that Megan’s story started with the nonconsensual abortion she was given by the aliens that abducted her. And tie that in with the one-off line we got about Cashol not being ready to be a father… I feel like that could have been angsty city and I would have loved it. (It also would have made Vektal’s advice that he gives to Cashol make more sense.)
2. Focusing in on how Megan randomly mentioned that Cashol was not her type. It could have been more about her initial disappointment of him as a mate and then we get to see him be his sweet and charming self to win her over. (I may have liked her less in this version, but it would have been a refreshing change from most of the women being smitten from day one.)
Idk. Instead, we got Megan being stressed about her place in the tribe, Cashol wanting her to love him, miscommunication, a foot fetish, and this weird root-disappearing plot.

Stoppp. This one was SO fun to read! Another flashback to the original crew (which I have loved so far). This one was just kind of a feel-good flashback (with some mild drama in the present day- but nothing too crazy.)
Marlene is a French-speaking, man-eating tigress who just sees this whole ice planet situation as another adventure. And she has her sights set on Zennek, the big shy virginal hunter, who is absolutely astonished that a woman like Marlene would even give him a second look.
They resonate early on, and Marlene takes the lead on their physical relationship. I love their energy. Marlene knows what she wants (it reminds me of Maddie) and it was so fun to see her tease her shy Zennek into action.
There is something so delicious about Zennek learning French and then the two of them having secret dirty conversations in front of the group and no one knows what they’re saying. And I love when we get to see Zennek grow confident and take charge – very good spicey moments.
“I vow to find a quiet place to sleep with my mate so I can lick her c*nt until her teasing stops and her begging begins.” <-- this is the energy right here. We love to see it.
Also really loved Marlene’s backstory with her deceased mother and how she sees signs of her maman watching over her. And that ending! So sweet.

Barbarian’s Valentine was another cute novella featuring some of our favorite couples. This one focused in on (my faves) Maddie & Hassen and (a fan fave) Josie & Haeden.
The premise: Maddie hasn’t seen her mate in months and is preparing a sexy reunion for when he returns (taking her cues from Valentines Day). Love her. Just everything about Maddie. She’s perfect in my eyes. ANDDD I shouldn’t be surprised that Maddie/Hassen are freaky-deaky but it made me laugh out loud hearing about their exhibitionist tendencies.
Josie and Haeden’s story was sweet. She’s pregnant with baby #3 and is trying to rekindle the steam. Haeden is, of course, precious about the whole thing.
Overall, a good time, but not my favorite of the novellas.

In this flashback story, we learn the story of Ariana and Zolaya – who resonated immediately back in the beginning. We get to see what was going on with Ariana (up until this point the only thing know that she was a heavy crier). And here we learn about her diagnosed anxiety/ panic attacks and how she’s trying to cope while no longer having her medication. And we meet Zolaya… sweet, sweet Zolaya who is kind, patient, and observant. He is fiercely protective over Ariana and goes out of his way to help her adjust to life on this new world.
I’m not sure why exactly, but Ariana and Zolaya feel like a better version of Elly and Bek, whose codependence feels unhealthy. (Even more so after the last novella). Bek is kind of rude and thoughtless to everyone else and Elly doesn’t take care of herself when he is not around. So these two have started to feel icky to me.
Ariana and Zolaya though… this feels more like a partnership rather than codependence. Yes, Zolaya is her “safe space” but rather than him taking up the mantle of being her ONLY safe space and protecting her from the world, he helps her build routines to mitigate her anxiety and gives her space to stand alone. He understands her anxiety but also emphasizes her own strength. And I absolutely love this about them.
Something about this couple just really resonated with me (honestly, no pun intended). Ruby was very aware that Ariana might not be for everyone, but I really connected with her. I understood her motivations and fears (maybe almost too well). And Zolaya was just so great. The original consent king (it would seem lol).

And here we learn about her diagnosed anxiety/ panic attacks and how she’s trying to cope while no longer having her medication. And we meet Zolaya… sweet, sweet Zolaya who is kind, patient, and observant. He is fiercely protective over Ariana and goes out of his way to help her adjust to life on this new world.
I’m not sure why exactly, but Ariana and Zolaya feel like a better version of Elly and Bek, whose codependence feels unhealthy. (Even more so after the last novella). Bek is kind of rude and thoughtless to everyone else and Elly doesn’t take care of herself when he is not around. So these two have started to feel icky to me.
Ariana and Zolaya though… this feels more like a partnership rather than codependence. Yes, Zolaya is her “safe space” but rather than him taking up the mantle of being her ONLY safe space and protecting her from the world, he helps her build routines to mitigate her anxiety and gives her space to stand alone. He understands her anxiety but also emphasizes her own strength. And I absolutely love this about them.
Something about this couple just really resonated with me (honestly, no pun intended). Ruby was very aware that Ariana might not be for everyone, but I really connected with her. I understood her motivations and fears (maybe almost too well). And Zolaya was just so great. The original consent king (it would seem lol).

Ummm. I liked the first couple of chapters… and the last couple of chapters. I hated everything else in between.
Brooke and Taushen as a couple were just not it for me. I think it’s mostly because of Brooke. I didn’t enjoy the miscommunication aspect of their relationship, in general, but she was kind of dumb and infuriating with her contribution to it. Like, bffr Brooke- you were very clear to Taushen at the beginning about how you were not interested with your words but when you changed you mind you suddenly FORGET HOW TO COMMUNICATE?!? Dumb. I hated it. And I hated how she was getting annoyed with Taushen not getting her hints.
Poor Taushen was just trying to respect her verbalized wishes the whole time.
And, previously, I was all for the innuendos when it came to Summer and Warrek talking dirty with chess. But Brooke and Taushen using I-Spy and then making it dirty? Nope. Hated that too.
I did LOVE the last few chapters and how it opened the doors for all the stories in the Ice Home series though 😊 And leave it to Liz to show up with her hilarious commentary that I adore. (I feel like I will like Hannah a lot whenever her story shows up as well)

These two were super cute.
Kate- working through her own self-esteem issues with her height. (She is the tallest human there; almost as tall as the Sa-khui women).
Harrec- a total goofball and instantly smitten but doesn’t quite know how to get Kate to accept his flirtations.
A little misunderstanding but they eventually get there (just needed one convoluted plan and some immanent danger to grease the wheels.) 😊
I enjoyed how they fell in love and agreed to be pleasure mates first before resonance. Their cute little plan to run away together was so sweet.
I do appreciate these lighthearted additions to the story- this one literally was so sweet. Rivalries, antics, silly flirtation, and kittens 😊 (But overall, I need more. Give me DRAMA – give me ANGST lol)
