This was too damn cute ♥️♥️♥️ Two contestants (and strangers) get matched up and have to convince their families that they are getting married in 6 weeks. If they make it to the end, they can win $100,000 each.
There was a lot that I loved about this. D'Vaughn and Kris were both really well developed characters. Their banter and chemistry were excellent.
I adored the insight into their relationships with their respective families. It was so realistic- the absolute acceptance and support that Kris experienced with her family versus the unintentionally hurtful ways that D'Vaughn's own family fell short but worked towards being better allies.
My only complaint is it fell kind of flat leading up to the final big moment. I don't know if I was just expecting a little more drama to unfold prior to, but the resolution came too easily for me.

Nothing inherently wrong with it. I just realized I don't love when there is a second book about the same couple after they've already gotten together. The external drama does not intrigue me enough when they are already happily in love. So I'll skip this and just move into book 3

What an excellent start to this series!
This is an alien romance for those who also just love Sci Fi in general. Very Star Trek but with a nice balance of the traditional alien romance tropes.
✅ Super slow burn (so much excellent tension)
✅ Going undercover together
✅ Competent FMC in her 30s
✅ Solid found family vibes
PS- I'm already a little bit in love with Vin (and I have to wait for book 5?!?)
TWs: abduction, sex trafficking, PTSD

reread on 5/16/23:
Still 5 fucking stars.
Like I know it's NOT romance but try to tell me this isn't the most fucking romantic shit ever:
"...the entire point of me is you. You get that right?... There's no me without you. One flesh, one end."
"I cannot conceive of a universe without you in it."...
"Yes you can, its just less great and less hot."
Anywho, I think I loved this even more on the reread. Gideon remains one of my favorite characters and I'm not sure I understand how anyone does NOT love Harrow by the end of it. (She is a total bitch for the most of it though.)
*****************************
originally read on 10/30/22:
An absolutely wild ride from beginning to end. Totally weird but I adored every moment.
And shout out to Miora Quirk for doing a phenomenal job with the narration. Immaculate 😘🤌🏻

NISHA!!! I loved Dating Dr. Dil last year, but I absolutely am a Bobbi/Bunty stan for LIFE. These two were just so fiery and headstrong and perfect for each other!
I absolutely adore Bobbi as the main character. She is so fierce in her love for her friends and family. She is a Type A people pleaser whose love language is Acts of Service. She also struggles with asking for help and OMG I felt so deeply for her!!
And Bunty!!! All the little ways that he showed Bobbi that he was thinking about her and taking care of her were just so top tier. (No spoilers, but find you a man that uses your geolocation for THIS)
The entire plot around them working together on Prem and Kareena’s wedding and all the hijinks that ensued was so fun. I loved the meddling aunties. And mostly, I just adore the clear love that Nisha has for her community and culture. It was such a joy to read about the food, the traditions, the family dynamics- everything!
Honestly, I cannot say enough good things about this book. And the way that I am already FOAMING at the mouth for Veera and Deepak’s story?!?! I loved the little tidbits we got with those two.
Thank you to Avon and Harper Voyager and NetGalley for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for my review.

"You could betray me a hundred times over, and I fear I'd still fall at your feet."
Reread #3. Yep. Everything below still stands. I love Theo with my whole heart.

Reread so I can remember characters and get caught up with the newer books in the series (I forgot that Fejo was the rakish sexy pirate that we meet in the first book😍). Still love this one so much! ❤️
Thoughts:
I cannot get over big, grumpy Theo being so unaccustomed to and starved for affection that he cannot fathom Jade being attracted to him in the slightest 😭 Instead, the only reasonable explanation is that she is some femme fatale sent to spy on him 😆
And Jade teaching Theo about kissing and face to face sexy time is just 🤌🏻🔥 SO good.
Pregnancy on page? (view spoiler)

I love these standalone sci-fi romances- especially alien romances. The tropes are always so consistent and I love that. This one checks all of the boxes for me.
Abducted and then rescued
Breeding k!nk- *the male's species is always on the verge of extinction and they need compatible women*
Mating Bonds
Educated in the arts of female pleasure
Earth ladies teaching other species the joys of kissing
PLUS - this one also had the good ol' marriage of convenience and grumpy/sunshine tropes.
The audiobook for this is EXCELLENT.
