emotional hopeful lighthearted medium-paced

🥲 I'm not crying, you're crying.

Give me middle-aged, queer awakening romance with short-king, golden retriever x looming black cat energy or give me death.

I wanted to like this because the premise was so cool but then it kind of went WAY off the rails and I couldn't stay invested.

Like... I LIKED the murderous guardian angel concept but then everything that happened after? It was too many slices.
adventurous funny fast-paced

This was absolutely ridiculous and surprisingly funny. But like.... Do I recommend it? 🤣🙂‍↔️

GA Aiken walked so Ruby Dixon could run and Hollie Jackson was there to narrate everything. (I read the audiobook.)

I might even read the next book whenever I need an unserious laugh.

I will most certainly come back to this at another point but for some reason i cannot bring myself to pick it back up right now

I love best friends to idiot lovers so much and thank god this one did not hurt me the way Book 1 did. (Because I am delicate and still emotionally compromised after that one.)

I really loved Nate and Zach with their opposites attract dynamic. Both in their friendship and their romantic relationship.

God they were both so dumb but in such endearing ways.

I am always a sucker for "let me make you food/ a meal" as a love language.

I do kind of wish we had gotten a scene where Nate and Rachel actually do talk about their breakup and her reasonings/perspective on him and Zach. (Also as a potentially sweet reformed friendship.)

I just adored seeing snippets of Mike and Danny being happy and healthy and thriving.

 Man, this was brutal.

And I don't just mean that because our two main characters are enforcers on rival hockey teams whose first meeting is them beating the shit out of each other on the ice.

Emotionally brutal.

So many thoughts that I'll compile later but the main points are 1. I really liked this and 2. Those content warnings are indeed warnings 🥲

CWs: violence, under negotiated kink, alcohol and prescription drug abuse, addiction, depression, suicidal ideation

I was enjoying it so much that I forgot it wasn't a full length book and then it just ended :-(

Rude. (And delightful!)

I'm clearly just in a baseball romance (and also reading all of KD Casey's backlist) kind of mood.

This was fine. The characters were sweet. Don't know if I'll ever pick up Lauren Blakely but I'm a forever fan of KD Casey.

I did love the little Seattle Alex cameos- (my grumpy sad boy quietly pining over Jake Fischer 🥲)
fast-paced

Me and Alex are the same because I would also fight a ghost for Jake Fischer 🥹♥️
