I wanted to love this book: books, secret book club, romance…what’s not to love? But honestly this fell flat for me. I felt that the FMC wasn’t as flushed out as I expected, all the secrets and lies really got to me when she kept them from certain people (especially those she supposedly trusted/was beginning to trust), and I felt like it all wrapped up way too easily.
I did enjoy all the references to different classics and Vernon was my favorite! Also, enjoyed the underlying secret story of the town’s namesake. Overall, I’m glad I read it, but it’s not one I’ll hold onto.
