I was very concerned that things were going to go really badly for my favourite magic addict. I mean, things rarely seem to go right for her, do they?

But I really enjoyed this book, even though I was doing the equivalent of 'peeking-through-my-fingers-at-the-scary-movie'. One of the things I liked most was how the book was more introspective than previous installments. It honed in on a core group of characters and spent time exploring their relationships and actions towards each other and the consequences of those actions.

This has very quickly become one of my favourite paranormal series.
