The Assassin's Blade
by Sarah J. Maas
This was a fun read. I wasn't sure how I felt about taking the time to read some random novellas, even if I knew they'd give some good background elements to Caleana's story. But they were really entertaining. I also really appreciated how well Maas weaved in the full context of many small details that are brushed over in the main storyline.
I couldn't shake the feeling of dread as I read these though, knowing full well how Sam and Caleana's story was going to end. I appreciate knowing now what the author alludes to in the main storyline and can't help but feel devastated for Caleana. Overall this was a really good addition to the series, but now I'm itching to get back to the main story arc.
