Hmm... I don't think this was all that great for a number of reasons. First of all, this was just a mix of miscommunication and smut. Other than that, there was no substance. The flashbacks scenes/chapters were so drawn out and quite frankly, unnecessary. Cade was SUCH A JERK. All he did was gaslight Mare and tell her how awful she was for leaving. Literally, every interaction was just him berating her about chasing her dreams and leaving their small town, but the irony is, HE TOLD HER TO GO! You seriously cannot tell someone to go and then hold it over their head for years. He got slightly better at the 80% mark but it was really annoying and I don't think he is an MMC I can even remotely root for. The last maybe 15% was decent but other than that, I don't think I'll be recommending this book.
