This book has a very unusual start. There are cop duos but not the confident, professional, out-to-catch-in-a-snap kind of cops, bonded but lacking the chemistry of the usual on-screen cops. Then there is a bank- robber, who is again an unusual one, who lacks confidence, is unsure, and is not the usual stick-em-up kind of a robber. The bank robbery turns into a hostage situation but the victims don’t behave the way they should. The book is hilarious. The author is very insightful and depicts human emotions, behaviour, and relationships beautifully.

I had come across the term Stockholm Syndrome somewhere. It is defined as the condition in which the victim empathises with the captor. So now you understand the situation in the book.

This is my second book by Fredrick Backman. I've read A Man Called Ove and fell in love with the grumpy old Ove. All the characters in this book are lovable except for a character called Zara, who is rather irritating but we do come across such people in life who can make us feel small and inconsequential. As we read on we understand Zara’s life better and can relate to her. but I ended up loving Zara too towards the end.

The book covers difficulties faced by people due to finance, loans, affordability, banks, love, marriage, career and many more problems.
Overall an amazing book, so relatable and heart-warming.
