This was such an interesting story. I am seeing why its popular, as the writing is very quick and easy to read and I loved the way that this author really developed the story. I was intrigued by the level of interaction by the romance. I will be honest, that I struggled with the writing style. It was very almost demeaning of certain groups and races of people and I didn't care for that at all. I did enjoy it being an interracial romance though, as the heroine is half native American in her heritage but the heroine was a hard pill to swallow. She is a very prickly heroine and very hardened and I just couldn't find much about her character to relate to in any way. I adored the hero, he is such a man of honor and you see how tormented he is. Seeing his journey made this book worth it and is what kept me really interested. This type of paranormal world building was so fascinating. I am sure that I will continue with the series.
