Blackbird Volume 1

2.5/5
I'm really not sure how I feel about this comic. In my opinion, the world-building was lacking. I still don't understand paragons or cabels and we're six issues in. While I love the art, there were a lot of missed panel opportunities, making some of the page-turns a little too choppy and jumpy for me. The romance felt forced and there just seem to be too many moving parts without much background or adequate exposition. I like Nina and I enjoyed the bit about cutting out toxic family despite biological relationships, but I just couldn't connect to anyone or the plot in general. I may continue with the series because I love Jen's artwork but I think Sam's writing clarity needs some work.
