Crooked Kingdom
by Leigh Bardugo
This series was absolutely amazing. I already want to rearead it and it hasn't even been that long since I finished. Leigh Bardugo is now a ride or die author for me. I saw this series on TikTok and picked it up because of Kaz Brekker. I devoured the first book and the second book because Leigh Bardugo's writing pulled me in and kept me there. I will say I wasn't attached to Nina and Matthias as much as I was to the other crows until I watched the Netflix show and I loved them more from that. The ending felt a little I dunno how to describe it. The fact that all the characters made it out of everything they went through without any of them dying only to have Matthias die at the end felt a little upsetting. It didn't tear me up as much as it did others as I said because I didn't connect to their characters until after reading the books and watching the show. I will definitely reread this series and buy anymore if there are more books in this universe!
Edited to add after reread November 25, 2021: I reread this book this month but this time I listened to the Audible version and man it made me feel things the second time. I wasn't attached to Nina and Matthias the first read, but after watching the netflix show and listening to the audible version OMG I had the feels. I have not sat and cried, let alone that much, over a book ever. It was fantastic. I caught onto more things this time having read Shadow and Bone and watched the show that I did not catch on the first read. I will definitely be rereading many more times.
