Eileen by Ottessa Moshfegh
3.0

I was really excited to read this book after reading this snarky interview with its author while contemplating purchasing it on ebook sale (https://www.theguardian.com/books/2016/sep/16/ottessa-moshfegh-interview-book-started-as-joke-man-booker-prize-shortlist) When I started reading I found myself more skeptical than I'd expected, but when Rebecca finally arrives on the scene things picked up. I think this was actually a pretty interesting story, but it felt like it took too long to get there. I wasn't really sure what to do with what I was reading for the first half of the 200 page book, and wasn't particularly enjoying myself, although the narrator constantly interested me in an uncomfortable way. I do feel glad I read this book, and I'm glad that the world has some stories featuring women like Eileen.
