And the Mountains Echoed
by Khaled Hosseini
Fantastic. Hosseini's prose just pulled me in, as usual. (Although it was a bit of a cheap trick, starting off with a fairy tale.) This novel, written almost as a series of linked novellas, showed glimpses into a multi-generational extended family from Afghanistan. It was touching and poignant and sometimes a little funny but mostly not and most of all beautiful. He really made me empathize with the characters - they could be real people. They almost are.
Get it. Just like his others.
