Black Road: The Holy North
by Brian Wood
Story: A man travels the lands protecting a young girl. Little does he know, everyone is after him. Twist and turns, similar to Wood's other Viking style series.
Art: Overall, probably the strongest part. Some great flow of action here, deep and dark colors to show depression well, and some great emotional moments mixed with brutal.
Enjoyment: I had fun at the start. It builds well enough, you enjoy the characters, and I liked the dynamic. I also think the art is really good.
What didn't work: The 2nd half of this becomes pretty dull. The twist was unexpected but what Brian did with it didn't pan out very well. The ending was needlessly depressing.
Overall decent. I'd probably go with a 2.5 but I'll raise it to a 3 for the art.
