The Road
by Cormac McCarthy
I can't think of a redeeming feature. I can't explain all the positive reviews. If your looking for a redemption story, or an action story, this is neither. Just really blunt and minimal writing that at times is hard to follow with content that is equally bleak. Not a single shred of chearfulness in the whole book.
As I listened to this as an audiobook, I couldn't help but notice how repetitive the language was. I think it was intentional but I wasn't a fan. All the conversation used OK several times and were only about 5 words long.
I love post apocalypse of the sort where civilisation rediscovers itself and rebuilds from scratch. (not zombie stories). I just didn't really get the point of this one.
