We Were Liars by E. Lockhart

We should not let the family fall apart.
We should not accept an evil we can change.
We would stand up against it, would we not?
Yes. We should.
We would be heroes, even.

I first read this book at 8 February last year and DNF it because I couldn't concentrate on the characters, the names, and places. But this year, incidentally on February too, I decided to give this book one more chance. One last fucking shot and I fucking hate myself so much right now.

WHY THE HECK DID I DNF IT LAST YEAR. WHY DIDN'T I TRY HARDER TO READ THIS BOOK? I JUST CAN'T WITH MYSELF SOMETIMES.

OK Maddy, take a deep breath. In. Out. You gonna be OK.

Alright.

Where do I start?

First of all I have to say this again for those who don't know me very well. I'm that one angsty reader who cries over everything and I'm that one crybaby reader who prefers to read sad books that will probably fuck my life up. When I started re-reading We Were Liars I had no idea what it was about or how it was going to end. I knew from the last time I read it, a year ago, that there are a lot of rich snobs involved in this book (which was one of the reason I stopped reading this book. Everything was just so white). I really tried now. I concentrate on the names and places, a bit hard at first but I got used to it and the mystery, the big question of what happened on summer 15 really made me tear through the book. It was just this intense nagging feeling that something really bad happened but I HAD NO IDEA, I DIDN'T IMAGINE that it would be this bad . I didn't mind the writing style (a lot of people seem to have problem with it) and even though the characters are sometimes problematic it was overall an awesome read because I just love it when authors try to fuck with me. Seriously, the ending was a huge mindfuck. I didn't see that one coming and I feel awful and deceived right now, thanks a lot E. Lockhart. You know what, I have a question for you. How dare you.
