Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery
4.0

3.5 stars

A sweet, enjoyable story of a small village in Canada and how it is impacted by the arrival of an ultra-talkative orphan girl. I loved watching Anne's relationships with her adoptive parents develop, and Gilbert Blythe won my heart. I was a little disappointed by the inconsistency of the pacing, though—hundreds of pages describe the minutiae of Anne's first couple of years in Avonlea, and then the next four years race by. While we are told that Anne is maturing, we don't really get to see it happening.
